Since the beginning of Covid, I have been working in the mining industry.
First in the Pilbara in Western Australia. Then after being locked into NSW 2021, I began working in the Hunter Valley.
Recently I started work in Northern Qld coal mine.
Last night at pre start meeting comments were made about a guy from another department, took his life recently.
Everyone went silent . Have heard this happening to often in mining.
It’s easy to feel alone out here. Isolated away from family and friends.
The mining life can easily feel like a trap, becoming a slave to the money.
Relationships break down and life can seem pointless at times.
I realise how lucky I am to be able to join online meditation. 10 years ago I started meditating at Mandurah and Perth meditation, in WA.
My mind went from sadness and struggle to peace and a truly comfortable mind.
But when Covid came along things changed.
I no longer had a local centre I could attend. But soon after online meditation began.
So no matter where, I am able to book in and join personal guided sessions on zoom. These sessions keep me anchored and help me so much when dealing with FIFO life.
It’s easy for those negative thoughts to take over and make life hard.
