Why is Consistency in Meditation so Important? Can Meditation Help Me Become More Consistent? "All or Nothing" Might be Your Downfall!

Consistency in meditation is one of the most important parts about meditation, because in the process it also makes you more consistent. It is a positively reinforcing loop!

But why is that, and what makes consistency with meditation so powerful?

Consistency in Meditation is Important Because...

Giving up is easy haha.

Consistency is not easy.

But that's OK, I was also one of the most inconsistent people on the planet - if there was an award I'd have been a top 3 candidate.

Like all things in life, to create new habits we need consistency - meditation is no different.

As we go through the process of shedding the old programming of our robotic, unconscious self, we start to change from the inside out.

And this is where discarding meditation is one of the ultimate hacks for a positive feedback loop.

How Can Meditation Help Me Become More Consistent?

If you want a human the exemplifies consistency, then take it from one of the most consistent people on the planet - David Goggins!

Practicing continuously creates consistency, just like any skill.

But consistency in meditation has an extra bonus other skills don't.

By discarding from the mind, all the thoughts, feelings, emotions and habits which prevent consistency are also discarded!

For example, do you recognize yourself in any of these following traits?

  • All-or-nothing thinking: this used to be me, and to some degree it still is. But because I was so deeply identified with it, when things didn't go slightly the way I wanted I would give up easily - this is a recipe for zero consistency.

  • Lack of prioritization: jumping from task to task without any clear order creates a scattered mind, which creates a scattered life, which leads to no consistency.

  • Fear of failure: before even trying, referencing past failures will keep you stuck there.

  • Procrastination: overwhelm from a busy mind leads to inaction, and no consistency can be developed like this.

  • Negative self-talk: self sabotage is the enemy of consistency! If you believe in who you think you were, how can you change? Thoughts can be discarded as they are not truth.

"I can't do this"
"I'm just going to give up"

  • Seeking external validation: always relying on others to give motivation and praise and having no internal guidance system.

  • Lack of clear goals: having goals is scientifically proven to keep people focused on a task as we crave the dopamine hit, which helps us develop consistency.

  • Overwhelm: this is another consequence of a busy mind with far too many thoughts. Also being caught on the overall goal before even beginning can stop us in our tracks.

If just one of these traits is present in you, then you are your worst enemy in developing consistency.

I you learn how to let go of those patterns from your mind, then you can break free and become consistent.

Consistency is the mind of Truth because nature is eternally consistent.
